May 22nd - June 9th 2007 - The old Red Lion
Bluebeard was written specifically for members of fluff productions by Pericles Snowdon who was shortlisted for the prestigious Old Vic New Voices Award for his play six/seven. Bluebeard was directed by Dominic Colenso and went on to become fluffs most successful production to date receiving Time out 'Critics Choice' two weeks running during the three week run.
Kept safe from the outside world by the enigmatic Blue and her icy assistant Miss King, three girls - Monkey, Rooster and Piglet - have spent their whole lives in the Castle. Yet when the Castle's walls are breached by a stranger it soon becomes clear that someone has been lying - about everything. The question is: who?
Bluebeard is a blackly comic exploration of death, lies, apocalypse... and parenthood.
"Sparkling from beginning to end there is no stopping this dynamic group of young actresses whose comic timing is spot on." Camden New Journal
"Snowdon has a strong sense of dramatic pacing... Their situation unfolds gradually, answering questions which have had just long enough to tantalise and stays in the balance till the last minutes. This is an individual tale, intriguingly told." Reviewsgate
'Fluff productions return to the Old Red Lion with a wonderful piece of escapist drama. Dark and richly enigmatic from the outset... Writer Pericles Snowdon has created this magical land where castle walls hide the lies of the outside where evil and pain once existed." Camden New Journal
"bubbles with humanity... The trickiness of Snowdon's work could reveal itself as genius." Ham & High
